Technical Training

Program Description: It is a continuous, step by step and progressive program designed to first, increase the player's ability to master the ball and second being able to apply these technical skills into tactical decisions in different realistic game scenarios. The program does this by creating an environment where the player is constantly in and around the ball and is constantly exposed to scenarios that require the use of individual technique and proper decision making to solve these technic/tactical moments of the game with guidance by our coaches. These scenarios increase in cognitive, technical and tactical difficulty as the program progresses and are paired with the necessary technical progression to create a successful and competitive learning environment.

ABOUT THE COACH

Retired CFC legend Juan Hernandez will lead our Technical Training. He joined Chattanooga FC in 2015. His play-making and passing ability helped lead CFC that year to their fourth national final in front of a record of 18,227 fans at Finley Stadium.

Hernandez holds a Master's of Science in Exercise Science from the University of West Florida. Hernandez hails from Madrid, Spain and has been teaching the technical side of the game to youth players since 2014.

SPEED & STRENGTH

Program Description: The soccer performance program will help players prepare for the physical demands of the game by building speed, agility, quickness, and power from the ground up using a science-based approach. Our strength program will use a 3 pillar approach to improve the players balance, muscular strength & endurance and maximal force production. We aim to provide a challenging environment for our players each session by introducing them to different modalities such as soccer specific plyometrics to support their speed and power, mechanical drills to sharpen running mechanics and more. We intend to target every physical component that the players need to become more lethal and a more productive athlete in the game.

ABOUT THE COACH

CFC pro team standout Richard Dixon will lead our Speed & Strength program this summer. A native of Jamaica, Dixon played college soccer at the University of West Florida and has been played professionally for the last several years including stops in Tampa, Charlotte, St. Louis, and Oklahoma City.

Dixon holds a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science from the University of West Florida. He is certified by the National Academy Sports Medicine as a performance enhancement specialist.

WHAT IS FUTSAL:
Futsal is the only form of indoor soccer endorsed by FIFA. It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, heavier low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls. This is the game that outdoor soccer players around the globe play to refine and maintain their control skills and touch. It is superior to walled soccer in terms of developing better skills and technique. In traditional American walled soccer, players regularly whack the ball (and sometimes their bodies) against the boards which promotes improper technique and too often rewards errant play. In futsal, players are constantly reminded to play the same quality control game that is required for success in the outdoor game. Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka and Martha grew up playing the game and credit futsal with developing their skills.
