Behind the Scenes: Relive the Victory

The U.S. Men’s National Team used Jordan Morris’ 59th minute strike to defeat regional rivals Jamaica 1-0 on Friday night in front of 17,903 at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. The win marked the first victory of Bruce Arena’s second tenure in charge of the MNT.

"It was a terrific environment," Arena said.

"I am really thankful for the people of Chattanooga to come out and support us under these conditions, because it was a little chilly. To have that kind of turnout is tremendous, and I would have to think that U.S. Soccer will continue to look at this venue down the road."

Morris agreed.

"It was rocking. There is a difference between an afternoon game and a night game, and the fans were great. It was fun."

A cold, windy night in February did not deter soccer fans from sitting through wind chills in the upper 20s.

"I've been in Los Angeles for the last eight or nine years," Arena said.

"We don't even go out under these conditions, but it was great for soccer. The players love playing in these conditions.

The U.S. finally found the back of the net through a well-worked goal just before the hour mark. Dax McCarty played a penetrating pass for Benny Feilhaber who took the ball on a turn before dishing to Jordan Morris. The two played a quick combination to get into the box before Feilhaber laid for Morris on the right where the Seattle Sounders FC striker finished past Jamaica goalkeeper Ryan Thompson.
