Do you love soccer? Do you like earning extra cash on the side? We are looking to develop new Soccer Referees for the Chattanooga area. Classes are now posted for the spring of 2020.

The first class is scheduled for this Saturday,  January 18. We need more candidates to sign up. If you know anyone interested in being certified as a referee in Tennessee's Grassroots Soccer Referee Program please send this link.

The first Field Training session is January 18 with additional classes will be held in February and March.

The Registration site is http://Learning.ussoccer.com Anyone interested will need to create a login and profile, then you will be led through the process and online material.

If you have questions, email Gary Welch at this link.

Aaron Welch, referee assignor for Chattanooga FC Academy, says anyone who loves the game makes a great referee.

"A good referee has to be a willing student of the game," he said. "You don't have to be the best player on your team. In fact you don't even have to have experience as a player."

All you need is a good work ethic and a willingness to learn. “Welch says, “This is a game about focus and discipline among other things. Soccer can be very intense emotionally. We will teach you how to focus in intense situations. We will teach you how to manage both people and their emotions. Learning to referee has the strong ability to help you become a smarter, stronger player. Besides that- Referees get paid well to stay in shape, we get the best view in the game, and we get to set or own schedule."

Referee Aaron Welch keeps a watchful eye on the game.
