SAYLOR SCHALK SELECTED as APRIL Athlete of The Month!

We are delighted to highlight Saylor Schalk as our April Athlete of the Month!

Schalk is an effective communicator with her team and a constant supporter to her teammates. Even when she is put under pressure, she consistently demonstrates her bravery and elite mentality. 

Schalk works hard behind the scenes to improve and trains with Chattanooga FC goalkeeper Eldin Jakupović away from her team practices and matches. 

"She is a young goalkeeping talent," said Jakupović. "She is really developing fast in her young age. She balances having fun and working hard really well. She is always improving and pushes herself to be better each day. You can tell she loves what she’s doing."

Schalk has shown her dedication to CFC and her love for the goalkeeping position for nearly ten years. She is a member of the Tennessee ODP team and has been invited the last two summers to the South Region ODP camp. As a freshman, Schalk was also selected as the MVP for her high school team this season and played both goalkeeper and in the field.  She was her school’s leading scorer, even though she played half of every game on the field. 

Most importantly, Schalk has been excelling academically with a 4.0 weighted GPA, while also playing varsity basketball for Notre Dame High School where her goalkeeping ability translates to rebounding and diving for loose balls for her team.

Her mother Marya summed her up best: "She lives and breathes soccer. "
