TDOT will implement a major traffic shift during the weekend of October 24-25 that will make travel from Camp Jordan to the downtown area take much longer than normal.
Construction crews will close the ramp from I-75 North to I-24 West from 9:00pm EDT Friday, October 23 until to 6:00am EDT on Monday, October 26. Cars on I-75 North that need to go to I-24 West will be detoured to the East Brainerd Rd Exit 3-A and then backtrack on I-75 South.
This detour will add an additional five miles for drivers. Expect traffic jams all around the split in all directions.
This detour will also alter the traffic flow on East Brainerd Road and Hickory Valley Road. To allow crews to install and remove the detour, lane restrictions on these roads will be in place from Thursday night, October 22 at 9:00pm to Tuesday morning, October 27 at 6:00am.
Also, TDOT will close the I-75 North on-ramps from US 41/Ringgold Road at Exit 1 at 9:00pm EDT Friday, October 23, until 6:00am EDT on Monday, October 26.
Traffic will be detoured to alternate routes to access either I-75 or I-24 at other locations. Due to low height restrictions at the tunnels on US 41/Ringgold Road west of the Exit 1 interchange, truck traffic will be prohibited from using the tunnels as an alternate route.
