Dear CFC Academy families, staff, & coaches:
The CFCA Board strives to be open and transparent with you about a topic that has likely been on your minds in recent weeks or months.
At Wednesday’s regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting, representatives from Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) and the Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club requested permission to speak with the Board about their plans for youth soccer. The board agreed to listen.
The Red Wolves representatives proposed a plan to acquire the existing not-for-profit CFC Academy with the intention of absorbing all players, staff and coaching into their for-profit legal structure.
Following, CFC representatives expressed to the Board their desire to renew their commitment to the Academy. The CFC proposal will keep the current structure in place as it exists today.
After speaking at length with both organizations, debating the alternatives, and discussing options with in-house counsel, the Board agreed it would not accept the Red Wolves proposal and reaffirmed the relationship with CFC.
Since its creation, the Academy has grown and thrived because of unification, hard work from staff, coaches, volunteers, and support from local partners. Most importantly, CFC Academy has succeeded because of our players and parents continuing support since inception. The Board believes the club can become stronger and more successful from the renewed commitment from CFC.
Now is the time to accept the leadership support and resources CFC has offered the Academy during their proposal. The Board is pleased CFC is willing to commit more resources to support the Academy next year and beyond. The Board believes the resources will include additional operational support, scholarship funding, transportation services for teams, adding turf facilities, continuing education for coaches, reduced fees, and more as details become final.
The Board is committed to providing regular communication updates to our membership on exciting developments as they occur for the remainder of spring season, through tryouts and into next year.
See you on the field!
CFCA Board of Directors
